Calvin Blackwell Named Intentional AI QEP Director

Congratulations to Dr. Calvin Blackwell on his selection to serve as Director of the College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for Intentional AI.

A professor of economics and former department chair, Dr. Blackwell brings deep experience in academic leadership, curriculum development, and accreditation reporting. He has been an early faculty leader in our generative AI efforts—designing and teaching a course in Generative AI, contributing to the Intentional AI QEP proposal, serving on the campus Generative AI Working Group, and participating in the AAC&U Generative AI Institute. 

As QEP Director, Dr. Blackwell will play a pivotal role in leading the planning, implementation, and assessment of our institution’s AI-focused enhancement plan, collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to integrate AI literacy and ethical considerations into the curriculum. In the initial phase, he will convene cross‑campus working groups to engage our community in designing the institution’s approach to the QEP.
