Innovation in Business Education
Recently, I became a member of the AACSB Innovation Committee. The invitation speaks to the reputation of our School. It’s opportunities like this that make AACSB a special group. It’s an association focused on helping each member achieve its unique mission while leveraging the collective knowledge of the whole. We already had a virtual kickoff meeting, and our next meeting will be in person at the AACSB Deans Conference. The meeting topic is “the role of research in advancing the value and impact of business education.” Having reviewed many of your vitae, this is something I can confidently say we do pretty well.
We know there can challenges with articulating the value of our research, and we can do a much better job of promoting our research. Our research can make a difference for organizations and society as a whole. I’ve talked with many of you personally about this topic. If you have additional thoughts or insights, please feel free to share.
I look forward to learning from others and sharing the great things happening in Charleston.
In addition, it’s been an honor to be on the Advisory Committee for this Dean’s Conference. As you might expect, a lot of AI is on the agenda 😊. Keynote 1 will feature Ethan Mollick, and I look forward to hearing his thoughts. It will be hard to pick just one session to attend. My brain might just explode!
Thank you for regularly sharing how you incorporate AI into your activities. While it’s challenging to keep up with the almost daily changes (think DeepSeek), I know we are embracing the challenge head-on.
Finally, I had the honor of chatting with Olga’s INFM 360 class about AI’s current and future impact on higher education. What a great conversation we had. The students have great insights; they have hopes and concerns for the future with AI. It’s easy to see how some students use AI to cheat, but many use it to deepen their understanding and focus much more on learning. I came away encouraged.
YOU make a difference!
