Student in Public Choice program authors Op-Ed

By Pete Calcagno, Professor of Economics and Director, Center for Public Choice & Market Process

One of our Public Choice Associates, Christian Wright, recently co-authored an op-ed published in The Post and Courier alongside his faculty mentor, Dr. Jordan Ragusa. Their collaborative piece reflects the high level of engagement, intellectual rigor, and real-world application that the Public Choice program fosters among our students. I have attached the article for your review.

This accomplishment underscores the Center’s mission to empower students to think critically about public policy and market processes while contributing meaningfully to public discourse. It also demonstrates the value of the mentorship opportunities facilitated through the Center, which connect students with faculty to deepen their academic and professional development.

We are proud of Christian’s achievement and grateful for the faculty support that helps make these successes possible. This kind of public-facing work reflects the College’s commitment to preparing our students to be informed and engaged citizens.

Christian will also be presenting his recent SURF grant research on “Race and Class, Vice and Virtue in Charleston’s Fourth Ward” on December 3rd at 3:30 in Arnold Hall.

Thank you for your continued support of the Center for Public Choice & Market Process, which provides these transformative opportunities.
