Young Hoon “Hunter” Kim joins the School of Business as HTMT Chair

Young Hoon “Hunter” Kim, Ph.D., has been named the College of Charleston’s new department chair and professor of hospitality and tourism management. He joins the college officially on July 1.

Kim has more than 10 years of industry and 20 years of higher education experience in tourism, hotel administration and hospitality management. Over the past 12 years, he has developed academic leadership experiences at the University of North Texas as department chair, co-director (and founder) of the International Sport and Event Management Research Lab, and the leadership team for the Global Digital Retailing Research Center, among other roles.

As a professor, Kim has extensive teaching experience and has taught a variety of hospitality and tourism-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is also an engaged researcher publishing more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and six book chapters.

Kim earned his doctorate in hospitality administration from Texas Tech University and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from the University of South Carolina.
