Cougar Changemaker Program: Interest Forms Due Feb. 9
The Cougar Changemaker Program, hosted by the Center for Sustainable Development, is an exciting opportunity for students to make a tangible impact on campus sustainability. Through this program, students can secure up to $5,000 in funding for innovative projects that enhance environmental stewardship and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
Why It Matters
These initiatives not only benefit the environment and society but also generate valuable research data and encourage partnerships across disciplines. Past projects have included zero-waste education campaigns, sunscreen dispensers, and hammock installations—all designed to improve campus life while promoting sustainability.
How It Works
The first step is simple: students submit an Interest Form outlining their sustainability idea. The call for Interest Forms is open now and due February 9. After submission, the committee works with students to develop their ideas into full proposals.
How Faculty and Staff Can Help
We invite faculty and staff in the School of Business to help spread the word. Here are a few ways you can support:
• Mention the program in class or departmental communications.
• Offer extra credit for students who submit an interest form or proposal (if it aligns with your syllabus).
• Schedule a brief classroom visit from a committee member for a 5-minute overview of the program. The committee is happy to assist with presentations or answer questions.
Let’s work together to empower students to become changemakers and create a more sustainable campus!
For more information or to schedule a classroom visit, please contact Emma Botzenhardt, Chairperson of the Cougar Changemaker Committee, at botzenhardtel@g.cofc.edu.
