Join the “Taking Care of Business” APA Pool Team
Patti and Chen, who played together on an APA pool team last year, are forming a new team with colleagues from the School of Business, and they’re looking for more players to join.
About the League:
The American Poolplayers Association (APA) is the world’s largest pool league, with nearly 250,000 members. Thanks to a handicapping system and a few rule tweaks, players of all skill levels can enjoy competitive, friendly matches.
Team Details:
- Name: Taking Care of Business
- When: Sundays at 4 p.m. at Players Place in West Ashley until 8:30-9 p.m.
- Format: Double Jeopardy (5 matches of 8-ball + 5 matches of 9-ball weekly)
- Team Size: Up to 8 players
- Commitment: One session (late August–mid December)
- Cost: $30 annual APA dues + ~$6.20 per match night
No Experience Needed!
The team especially welcomes middle to lower-skilled players. No need to be a pool shark—you can be a guppy!
Current Roster:
Patti Goff, Chen-Huei Chou, Chris Rodgers, and her husband Phil have already signed on. Chen and Phil bring strong skills to the table, while Patti and Chris are mid-level players, making it a great learning environment for all.
The next session begins August 31, so those interested should reach out to Patti by August 15.
