Accounting Faculty Research Featured on the Cover of Today’s CPA Magazine

Accounting faculty are making headlines! Research by professors Billy VanDenburgh, Ph.D., Kimberly Tribou, Ph.D., CPA; and Mike Braswell, Ph.D. are featured on the cover of Today’s CPA Magazine for their analysis of the quality of tax-focused AI. Their article, “Assessing AI From a Tax Perspective, Part 1,” explores how Copilot, a commonly available AI tool, performed during the 2023 tax filing season.

Despite high hopes for AI as a potential resource during the hectic tax season, the research uncovered a surprising outcome: Copilot’s responses to tax-related questions were often inaccurate or misleading.
