Charleston School of Business Faculty & Staff Updates

AI Already

Enough already. Earlier this week, I was at the Southern Business Deans Annual Meeting, and it seemed like it was all AI all the time.  Now, I’m a tech guy, so it was stimulating conversation, but it occurred to me that there’s a lot of talk about AI, and what we need is more action. Some of my takeaways include:

  • AI is here; it’s not going away; we need to allocate time to learn.
  • To use it well, we still need foundational knowledge.
  • Not job replacement, task replacement.
  • We need to teach students how to evaluate AI results critically.

So, nothing you didn’t already know, but an affirmation that the work and exploration we are pursuing in the School is worthwhile and will have a profound impact on our future.

I look forward to our continued conversations on the topic, but more importantly, seeing your results – thank you, Kamyar and Iris, for your excellent example last week.

YOU make a difference!

Ponder this with me …
