Lead It Like Lasso

Quirks. That’s one of the many things that I liked about Ted Lasso. Each character had their own quirks. They are good at some things and not so good at others. They also have areas that make you say, “Hmm.” That sounds like real people to me. I like real people.

Recently, I read Lead It Like Lasso by Marnie Stockman and Nick Congilio, founders of Lifecycle Insights. They explored how their experience as startup leaders aligned with leadership insights from the Apple T.V. series. The book has four sections: The Rules, The Players, The Training, and The Game. Each chapter incorporated insights from numerous leadership books in each chapter. It was a fun and easy read.

The final thought in The Rules is aligning core values and culture and their importance to the rest of the process. You know, this is critical to our shared future as well. How can we align our personal values with our School values and, in turn, create a thriving culture? I am excited about our conversations so far about our strategic framework, which provides an opportunity for each of us to align our individual core values with our school values and create a culture where we can all belong and flourish. Drop in during one of our upcoming listening sessions to share your thoughts and feedback:

  • Thursday, September 12 11:30 am – 12:30 pm (Tate 132)
  • Monday, September 16 9:30 – 10:30 am (Beatty 301)

Together, we Pursue Purpose, Invest in Relationships, and Focus on Outcomes.

I’m looking forward to our continued conversations and moving forward.

Side Note: Particularly poignant to me is how the lead character or hero of the story, Ted, openly struggles with anxiety and solicits the help of others. We all have times when we struggle and need the help of others. Please know we are all in this together and your team is ready to help.

YOU make a difference.

Ponder this with me …

P.S. I’m looking forward to season four. Are you?

I’m a big Ted fan…and I was particularly happy the first season released at the start of the pandemic. We needed what the show offers!
