Join in on The Conversation
Share your scholarship with a national audience!
As many of you know, the College of Charleston became a member of the non-profit news organization The Conversation in January 2023.
Thanks to many of our faculty, this initiative has been an unqualified success: Since January 2023, CofC faculty members have published 41 articles on the site, accounting for more than 2 million total reads! Articles from The Conversation are regularly republished on online news sites such as Yahoo, Salon, PBS and MSN.
All CofC faculty are encouraged to pitch articles to and write for The Conversation. You can pitch articles on your own or ask our communications team to pitch on your behalf.
At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Office of Marketing and Communications will hold a virtual information session for faculty to provide an overview of The Conversation’s editorial process and advice on pitching and writing articles. This session will be recorded, and the link shared via email. Here’s the Zoom link.
In the meantime, below are additional resources:
- For those who are new to The Conversation, this short video provides a good overview.
- Browse through the many training resources available on our Marketing and Communications page on The Hub.
- Read articles on The Conversation (both those written by CofC faculty and other scholars from around the country) to become familiar with the site’s journalistic writing style.
- Reach out to our communications team (contacts below) to talk through ideas for story pitches and to ask questions. Another great resource is your faculty colleagues who have already published on the site.
