Lancie Affonso inducted into newly established CofC Waring Society

During the last Alumni Association Board of Directors meeting, the Board voted unanimously to create a society for former officers and Board members, called the Waties Waring Society. The Society is named for CofC alumnus Waties Waring, Class of 1900, who served as President of the Alumni Association from 1916-1918.

Judge Waring later became a notable leader in the Civil Rights movement, authoring a precedent for Brown vs. Board of Education, and working with Thurgood Marshall to obtain a Supreme Court ruling to end segregation in schools.

“It was an honor to serve my alma mater and be inducted into the College of Charleston Waring Society together with my alumni colleagues during our Alumni Association Annual Meeting,” shares Lancie.

Congratulations on this honor!
