Belonging in Business had its first Bingo Night earlier this month which was a big hit. Students ate, won some pretty cool prizes, and learned more about what the Belonging in Business efforts hope to accomplish. Who knew bingo was such a hit with the college crowd!
While the free food and prizes may have been the draw, we’re hopeful that the community building that took place will be the hook that keeps our diverse student population engaged. Students in attendance commented on how rare it is they have the opportunity to connect with students from different backgrounds within our school and hoped to have the opportunity to network with diverse School of Business alumni and local business owners in the future.
This event was the first powered by our Belonging in Business Student Advisory Council and its success is an indicator of the strong leaders we have in our student body. Their knowledge of what students want to see, and diligence in getting the word out, really made the event a success.
Our Belonging in Business efforts will be highlighted at the College’s EXPO 2024 when Commercial Real Estate Finance major David Byrd will be on hand to discuss his research with Lancie Affonso. His poster will cover how our efforts began within the School of Business and why they are important in today’s business environment.
If you have students interested in our efforts to create an atmosphere of belonging for students within the school of business, please share their information with me so they can be included in future events and communication.
