Economics minor named semi-finalist for Critical Language Scholarship Program
Semi-finalist notifications went out yesterday for the Critical Language Scholarship Program (CLS), which enables students to spend a summer in a host country learning a language deemed critical by the State Department. Jack Watson, who is in the Honors College and is majoring in International Studies and French with a minor in Economics, was announced as one of two semi-finalists. He has applied to study Arabic.
This is a significant achievement for Jack and our institution: only 15% of students who apply to CLS will be chosen as semi-finalists. CofC exceeded the national average, since 22% of our applicants were selected to move forward to the second round.
If you see Jack around campus, please congratulate him and wish him luck with the next round!
