Charleston School of Business Faculty & Staff Updates

Where Business Meets Purpose

“Where Business Meets Purpose, and Extraordinary Happens.”

With AI’s help, I’ve been pondering how our strategic plan, marketing plan, and messaging all fit together. We are already doing great work. Hopefully, with fruitful conversations, we won’t reinvent the wheel, just focus and highlight.

Before my arrival, a lot of great work had been done. The 160over90 work, as I mentioned previously, was excellent. But from what I can see, it was done before the completion of the university’s plan for “Extraordinary Happens Here.” There was also good work updating our mission and vision in the initial draft form.

We have something exceptional here and need strong messaging that we can all get behind. Do we all have to love it? No. But we need to see that it represents us, and more importantly, it needs to include us. I look forward to these conversations.

Through this process, Bing/Copilot and I have become great friends. Utilizing a series of prompts, providing the AI with relevant pieces of the great work already done. Bing suggested:

“Where Business Meets Purpose, and Extraordinary Happens.”

Wow. Why didn’t I think of that one? The more I thought about it, the more it resonated. It’s precisely what I’ve experienced and articulates why I chose to come to Charleston. There are three parts that I see as important:

Where: Charleston, Campus, Community

Business: Business Education, Engagement, Research

Purpose: Liberal Arts Foundation + Life Design

In a sense, it’s a formula. If we do the first three well, extraordinary happens. And not just for our students but for each of us. Another way to phrase this:

OUR formula for YOUR success

I have a lot more that I want to share with you at next week’s School meeting – some initial thoughts for us to consider.

Remember, this is OUR School of Business.

YOU make a difference.

Ponder this …
