2023 Distinguished Service Award — Beatriz Maldonado

Beatriz Maldonado, Ph.D., associate professor of economics, has an appointment in two different departments, playing service roles in both the School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs and the School of Business, specifically the Center for Public Choice and Market Process. She is the chair of the Campus-Wide Curriculum Committee.

2023 Distinguished Teaching Award – Maryam Mahdikhani

Maryam Mahdikhani, Ph.D., assistant professor of supply chain and information management, teaches a set of subjects that tend to be perceived as especially difficult by students, yet students report that she is approachable, organized and thorough in her teaching style. She also has worked to build her expertise in supply chain management in order to better attract and mentor students by achieving green and black belt certifications.

2023 Distinguished Research Award — Jennifer Barhorst

Jennifer Barhorst, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of marketing at the School of Business in the department of Management and Marketing. Her research focuses on the experiential marketing, brand management and MarTech domains. She has published her work in high-caliber journals, including the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Services Marketing, and the Journal of Travel Research.  She has published six PRJs in the past three years in prestigious journals and also received considerable media coverage and conducts research that is provocative and interesting to students.

2023 Distinguished Adjunct Teaching Award — Brittany Denis

Brittany Denis, MBA is an adjunct instructor in the department of Supply Chain and Information Management who has taught INFM 220, Management Information Systems, since 2021. In her full-time role, she is the director of portfolio management office within the Division of Information Technology at the College of Charleston.

2023 Bank of America Distinguished Teaching Professorship – Alexis Carrico

The Bank of America Teaching Professorship is awarded to a roster faculty member designated by their colleagues as embodying the highest standards and commitment to teaching excellence in the School of Business at the College of Charleston.

Alexis Carrico, MBA joined the College of Charleston School of Business as an instructor for the Department of Management and Marketing in the fall of 2017. Prior to teaching, Carrico worked for global corporation Nike, Inc. as an emerging markets program director. She also served as the supply chain process manager for Masisa, Inc. Alexis uses her general management, international business, supply chain, sustainability, analytics and finance background to bring business-world insights to the classroom. No stranger to the CofC classroom, Carrico is an alumna of the College, receiving her undergraduate degrees in international business and spanish.

2023 Howard F. Rudd, Jr. Distinguished Faculty Award for Service Leadership – Dave Wyman

Established in 2013 in honor of founding Dean Rudd to recognize outstanding, high-performing B-School professors who lead by example and advance the mission and global vision of the School of Business.

David M. Wyman, Ph.D. is an associate professor in entrepreneurship within the Department of Management and Marketing, and the director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the College of Charleston’s School of Business. The Center for Entrepreneurship provides experiential activities that assist students in developing an entrepreneurial mindset. Its flagship program is Impact X – where interdisciplinary teams create impact startups that “make a profit, while making a difference.”
