Teach the Teachers

On Friday, Feb. 17th, the Center for Public Choice & Market Process (CPM) along with the Bridwell Institute at SMU hosted a “Teach the Teachers” event.

Local middle and high school teachers from Charleston and Berkeley County School Districts who teach economics participated and learned about trade, economic freedom, markets, government and immigration. The event hosted Robert Lawson, Jerome M. Fullinwider Centennial Chair in Economic Freedom and director of the Bridwell Institute; William McCorkle, assistant professor of Teacher Education and CPM faculty affiliate; and Peter Calcagno, professor of Economics and director of CPM. The head of the SC Council on Economic Education and the head of professional development for Charleston County schools were also in attendance.

This was a great way to provide outreach to the teachers in our community and help them provide valuable economic education. CPM hopes to make this an annual event.
