Charleston School of Business Faculty & Staff Updates

Our Shared Future

It was great to see everyone Tuesday evening at the Holiday Mix and Mingle. The event was a great reminder that we have great faculty, staff, BOG members, and College leaders all working together to advance our great institution. We shared some laughs, food, drink, and a lot of conversations about where we’ve been and where we are going. It was extremely encouraging.

Just prior to our gathering, I returned from a productive off-campus meeting and reflected on all I have learned over the last five months. This is an extraordinary institution in an incredible city, comprised of spectacular people, and I’ll never learn it all, but one thing is clear, we have more opportunities than a school 5 times our size could address. Our challenge will be prioritizing and executing.

A few weeks ago, I used the phrase “our shared future” in a post, and I keep coming back to that idea. We really will create our future – together. Over the coming months, we will go through a process of Vision → Alignment → Execution. We will have persistent conversations; we will look at how each of us can play a unique role. We are not all the same, and we don’t need to be. That, I believe, is one of our strengths. We can encourage each other to become the best version of ourselves possible and, when we come together, be an amazing organization.

So, as the holidays approach, think about where do you want to go? How can we align your passions with where the School is going? What part can you play? And return refreshed and ready to engage in creating a vision, aligning resources, and executing on creating our shared future for OUR School of Business – and do it with CARE.

Thank you for all you have done to make this semester a success.

YOU make a difference.
