The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. In accordance with regulations issued under FERPA, the College of Charleston provides an annual notification to our enrolled students of their rights under FERPA; as well as an explanation of the exceptions under FERPA that allow the College to disclose information from the student’s education record without consent.
This notification is posted at the following link on the website of the Office of the Registrar: http://registrar.cofc.edu/pdf/FERPA-annual-notification-final-june-2016.pdf
For additional information or for questions concerning the College’s FERPA policy and procedures, please visit http://registrar.cofc.edu/ferpa/index.php or contact the Office of the Registrar directly (email: registrar@cofc.edu or physical address: 160 Calhoun Street, Lightsey Center, Room 281).

Academic Catalogs: Looking for the undergraduate or graduate academic catalog (academic regulations, course descriptions, department/program information, etc.)? Click Academic Catalog System.
Full-time vs Part-time Status: A minimum of 12.0 credit hours is considered full-time enrollment for undergraduate students. Be careful about dropping or withdrawing from courses which take your total enrollment hours below this minimum, as your financial aid and health insurance could possibly be affected.
Holds: Registration holds for a past due balance, an advising hold, parking or library fines, etc., will keep you from being able to drop, add or withdraw from classes in MyCharleston. You can check for any registration holds using the Academic Services tab in MyCharleston. Look for the Registration Tools channel and click by clicking on the Registration Status link. Only the department who placed the hold can remove it from your account. If you have a hold and need to drop or withdraw from a class (by the appropriate deadline), please contact the Registrar’s Office for assistance BEFORE THE DEADLINE at registrar@cofc.edu! Requests after the deadline will not be processed.
One Stop Answers: Visit our One Stop Answers for Common Student Requests web page for additional questions and answers.
