Below are the topics that will be covered by each cohort during the upcoming semester. We hope this gives you a better idea of what your student is learning AND of what skills you might hear your student talking about.

Freshmen
Support Session: Writing Comprehension aims to improve writing skills and develop written communication. Students will learn to compose effective emails, summarize important information, use writing strategies in test taking, and more.

Sophomores
Support Session: Career Explorations is designed to begin preparing students for life after graduation by exploring career interests and job possibilities within those interests. Students will identify their own career interests, research job possibilities based on individual skill sets and credentials, and understand appropriate workplace communication and expectations.

Juniors
Support Session: Community Engagement teaches students what it means to be engaged in one’s community and how to apply this knowledge by exploring volunteer opportunities and community events. Topics include: developing personal relationships, engagement vs. participation, seeking out engagement opportunities, etc.

Seniors
Support Session: Now What?! Preparing for Life after College is designed to help students finalize plans for life after graduation by exploring options for employment, residency, and community resources. Topics include: the employment search, applying for jobs, understanding the REACH Certificate, the housing search, and professionalism.

**It’s important to remember these lists are not exhaustive. Topics may be shifted and added based on the instructor’s observations.
