As summer is heating up, so are things around campus. For most of us, this is the time for preparation and planning. Like all of you, we have been working hard to have campus ready while we await the return of our students in the fall. Here are a few things to pass along:
- The Crime Mapping is now up and running on the Public Safety website. This feature allows the user to select a location on campus and view incidents that occurred there over a seven year period. This is an interactive service, so I encourage you to check it out! Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this service.
- Public Safety will be holding a R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) class this fall. R.A.D. is a series of self-defense classes for women. This program will be open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Please stop by Public Safety headquarters or email RAD@cofc.edu to sign up. Below are the dates and times for the fall class:
FALL 2014
9/08 5pm- 8pm
9/10 5pm- 8pm
9/15 5pm- 8pm
9/17 5pm- 8pm
- Campus Safety Awareness Month is in September. We have several events planned throughout the month. If your campus group or organization would like to team up with Public Safety on hosting a presentation or event, we would be more than happy to collaborate on this initiative. Please contact Sergeant Jake Muse with questions or suggestions.
I have enjoyed meeting many of you over the past few weeks, and I look forward to continuing working together. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Crime Prevention Tip: Are you planning a vacation this summer? Avoid posting about your trip on social media until you return. Knowing a house is vacant makes your home a tempting target for burglars.
