I am pleased to announce that Dr. Mark Del Mastro has been appointed as the new Associate Provost for Curriculum and Academic Administration in the Office of Academic Affairs. Mark has provided exemplary leadership to faculty, staff, and students as our Hispanic Studies Department Chair for the past nine years. Prior to his appointment as Professor of Spanish at The Citadel, he earned his Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, and a master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College. Mark’s academic insight and several years of administrative experience will provide a critical component in his management of the College’s curriculum and policies.
I am equally pleased to announce that the Associate Chair of Hispanic Studies, Dr. Michael Gomez, will transition into the position of Department Chair of Hispanic Studies starting on August 5, 2019. I am confident that Dr. Gomez will continue his good work for both his home department and the College as he takes on this new leadership role.
Please join me in congratulating Drs. Del Mastro and Gomez on their accomplishments and contributions to our campus community as we move forward into another promising year at the College!
