The first of these two scenes shows the students being interrogated for their moment of silence. Two students who were involved have already been expelled, but before they can leave, other students begin speaking up. They stand up and voice their support and fight against the authoritarians that are trying to stop them. The camera is placed as if it were another student in the room, medium shots show students rising to a more powerful position as they stand their ground. The students are surrounded by their peers, they have strength in numbers; but the adults working for the government are shown alone. The adults also have visible fear cross their face as the students band together; by sticking together, the students were able to rob the adults of much of their power.

The second scene is visually very similar, showing the students voting together on whether or not to take a moment of silence for Hungarians. The camera is once again positioned to make the audience feel as if they are in the room with the students and a part of the discussion. The editing follows Hollywood norms and moves to shots all around the room to establish the importance of each student’s vote. Those in support of the moment of silence are shown together, talking and discussing the issue together so that they can come to an agreement. The one student who is most opposed to the moment is shown alone, just like the education executives from the previously shown scene.
