It has been entertaining to see what does and does not make it into the anthologies we have read thus far. Granted we obviously have not seen all the possible choices that were potentials for either the Indian Myths or The Puritans but we did get a prime example of what the editors of those two works are trying to teach us.
That is what is most interesting to me; there are probably 100’s and potentially 1000’s of other myths or puritan stories but we only got a selection that when it comes down to it, is unquestionably biased. It is certainly possible that the editors tried to avoid any biases and make decisions purely objectively. Even if they attempted this though, it is still impossible that they avoided any bias decisions when they may or may not have had to make certain choices.
For us, I am not only excited to see what all is out there about Charleston especially, but i think it is amazing that we will hold the power and ability to create whatever story we want. We can potentially paint Colonial Carolina in terrible light or amazing light just based on what we choose to include. That is a significant amount of power that will be intriguing to have over an anthology.
