After some further thought and organization, I have come to the realization that a research paper would be best suited for my endeavors with imagist poet Amy Lowell. In this essay, I aim to give a detailed timeline of Lowell’s life tied to a historical context of what the world was like for someone like Amy Lowell. Being a proud and pronounced lesbian, female, imagist poet, Lowell stood out and pissed off a lot of people, which is one of the reasons I am so fascinated with her. I hope to use her poetry as the ties that link Lowell’s life to the world which she was born into, generating a mapped-out representation of her as a poet and lesbian in the limelight.

I like this idea. Next, I’d like to see a bibliography of primary (writings by Lowell / items she edited) and secondary (critical works, biography, etc.) works. Please also make sure you work your way towards some argument. I sense that your pitch so far seeks to revive interest in a figure who has been overshadowed by Pound and others. That’s a great start–keep that energy going!
I think the timeline will work well for this project as you view modernism through the career of one of its important, but often overlooked figures. Please begin creating a bibliography here. We’ll talk about potential sources during our conference this week.
