My project is on feminist movements and women’s rights; I follow the movement for the duration of the modernist era. These movements are listed with poems from female writers that reflect the events occurring in feminism, women’s rights, and women in politics during 19th and 20th century.
Feminism addresses issues such as reproductive rights, domestic violence, sexual harassment, equality in the work place, and women suffrage. I researched women’s rights and feminist movements to better understand the position of women and the action they took to overcome oppression in 19th and 20th century. I also look at poems that reflect the movements of the time period, focusing on female writers such as Emily Dickinson, H.D., and Edna Millay to name a few. My research includes feminism and women’s rights websites that define and identify the movements during this time. The Norton Anthology assisted in my exploration of modern female poets and poetry that reflect the women rights and feminist movements.
I used Tiki-Toki timeline to display this research to show the improvements and setbacks women faces over the 19th and 20th centuries and how it aligns with female poets during this time period. The poetry serves as women’s response to the events taking place, it can be found by clicking the “find out more” button in the description box of the poetry tabs. I think this will be useful to scholars interested in how poetry reflects the times, especially feminism.

Some interesting ideas here; I like the idea of a broader story tracing certain modernist “feminist” poets / poetics. That could be a useful resource for someone learning about this period. You might offer a timeline that juxtaposes certain publications that resonate with certain historical moments important to women’s rights.
The modernism / visual arts project could work as well, and a flipbook seems like a good presentation tool for that idea.
