As an update for the current main website refresh, we wanted to let you know of the most recent changes and news:
The new faculty and staff template is currently being applied to the appropriate faculty and staff pages.
New Main Index Page
The rollout of the new main index page for departments, offices, academic program pages should begin within the next two days . This specialized index page will feature a full width banner, the normal content area, an area for a news feed, events feed and a College of Charleston YouTube video.
After the new main index template has been applied to the site, the web maintainer may select an appropriate banner using the instructions for enabling a banner image to the individual pages. At the time the new main index template is applied, the News and Events will be moved from the right hand column to the new main index page, if applicable.
In the very near future, a new global widget will be available for applying the Additional Resources links, Quick Links and Social Media links to each site’s pages. At the time of the rollout of the Global Widget, a News link and a Events link will be included within the new Quick Links location.
Review of Quick Links
As stated earlier, the new webpage template has the option for a list of Quick Links, Additional Resources, and Social Media links. It would be our strong recommendation at this time to review the quick links on your site and divide the links into two categories – Quick Links and Additional Resources. The industry recommended number of links for each category is 5 to 7. Make sure to leave room for the News link and Events Link, if applicable.
To assist with the transition and as the new global link becomes available, we will contact each lead web maintainer to obtain the desired links for the specific categories. We will also migrate the social media links to the appropriate location. After the initial setup of the global widget, the web maintainer will have the ability to update the links OR change links on individual pages without the need to contact a webmaster.
