This scene truly highlights the alienation that Cenik feels in Germany due to his dual nationality. He can not speak Turkish, so he is isolated from the Turkish kids at school. He is not considered German, due to his father’s Turkish blood. This leads to him not being picked for either team during the school soccer match, making him lash out violently against the other students from his bullying. This scene highlights the difficulty for a third generation immigrant to fit into the culture of the country, as he is still considered an outsider to both his country of birth and his ethnicity. He does not fit into either category while at school.
