Dr. Patrick Wadden at Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, NC, is sponsoring a lecture by Dáibhí Ó Cróinín about Jean Ritchie’s tour of 1952-1953 Ireland. Ritchie pioneered the study of Irish folk music, and her work was very influential on groups such as the Clancy Brothers, who in turn influenced the whole folk movement of the 1960s. The lecture is at 7pm on 30 April.
