A pilot program matching College of Charleston students studying health with underserved residents living in downtown neighborhoods is embarking on a new session starting at 6 p.m. today at the Arthur Christopher Community Center, across from Burke High School.
The program, spearheaded by health professors Susan Flynn and Tim Scheett, is multifaceted and was modeled after one started at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Groundwork on a local version started in the spring of 2010, and the first of two pilots started in the spring semester of this year. The program is aimed at helping children, adults and seniors.
