Frank Hefner, an economist at the College of Charleston, described the announcement as “a recovery that only a statistician could love.”
He said the official end of the recession will not resonate with many people because of anemic job growth and the prolonged mortgage crisis. He said it’s hard to predict when the economy will improve enough for the average person to notice.
