Rolling to the Beach

Today the team split into two groups. Frankie and Frances continued with Rolli Days while Alison, Claire, Laura and I fulfilled a lifelong (ok, trip long) dream of Laura’s and went to the beach.

Rolli Days remained an interesting adventure, featuring such expected surprises as fabulous map frescoes and puppet shows. Issues with the language barrier persisted, but made things novel, and new friends were made at every turn. The beautiful places that were visited included the Palazzo Antonio Dorio, the Palazzo Nicolo Grimaldi, and the Palazzo Cattaneo della Volta.

The beach we visited was roughly one hour away by train in a town named Finale Ligure. Finale Ligure is small but lively with a definite resort feel. The day was perfect for a visit to the beach–it was warm but not hot, and just overcast enough to prevent sunburn. We sat in our fancy beach chairs at Bagni Vittoria for hours, reading our books and enjoying the sound of the ocean.

When we returned, Frankie had prepared a delicious dinner of gnocchi and sausage with arrabbiata sauce. We ate well and had an early night. Tomorrow we will revisit our piazzas and combine all of our AutoCAD drawings into one final product.

Only two days left in Genoa–the time has gone by amazingly quickly!
