The College of Charleston’s Washington, DC Semester Program for Democracy, Culture, and the Arts is an academic program beginning in the SPRING of 2024–application deadline will be early in the Fall term of 2023. The program Application and Checklist can be found here.
DCSP is a program for students who want to experience working in Washington in a structured and supervised way, tapping the dynamic institutions of the Washington Metropolitan Area to provide major experiential learning opportunities. The academic components of the program and the internship coordination are provided by CofC professors. DCSP participants will receive up to 3 credits for the mandatory DCSP seminar, 6 credits for their full-time internship, and are free to fill their remaining credits with either a research project or online coursework at CofC.
Classes are to be held in the University of California Washington Center in the heart of the city. Students live in shared 2-bedroom apartments in downtown Washington, DC.
