Course Description

The product of a new and exciting collaboration between the Center for Civic Engagement and the Honors College, “Honors in Honduras” is a combination honors course and alternative break. During the Spring of 2012 students were enrolled in a course that focused on Asset-Based Community Development, Project Development and Management, and Project Resource Development. In May, the entire team traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to implement the project plan developed during the spring in collaboration with the LAMB Institute, our community partners in Honduras. The team focused in on developing promotional materials and assessment tools forĀ  Alonzo Movement at LAMB, a program devoted to keeping young males out of gang violence within the city.

During the Spring of 2013 a new group of Honors students will be enrolled in the same course and travel to Honduras as part of an Alternative Spring Break. This 2013 group will continue working with the Alonzo Movement to seek out potential funding sources for their program.
