The College of Charleston celebrates Native American History Month with the second annual “Realities, Misconceptions and Stereotypes About Native American Indians and Their Histories.” on Wednesday, November 9th at the Stern Center 3:30 p.m.
The presentation, discussion and light brunch will be facilitated by Native American expert and College of Charleston Professor Chris Boucher. Some of the topics that will be discussed include: federal vs. state tribes (S.C.), movie and film interpretation, state/federal process and recognition, Thanksgiving: Indians & Pilgrims, sports mascots/logos, government, money, wealth and land, casinos, military service, food/survival, traditional medicine, traditional clothes and myths.
