Professor Covert Lectures in Mexico

Recently, Dr. Lisa Covert was invited to give a talk in Mexico. Here’s what she had to say about her trip:

The talk was titled “Revaloración del pasado indígena de Guanajuato,” and I gave the talk at the Museo Histórico Casa de Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

I was invited to give the talk based on my 2021 article, “Reframing Guanajuato’s Indigenous Past: Archaeological Field Notes and Development Priorities,” published in The Latin Americanist.

My talk was a part of a panel with comments by archaeologist Gabriela Zepeda García Moreno and ethnohistorian Alberto Aveleyra. The event helped bring recognition to the new exhibit in the museum’s Sala Izcuinapan and ongoing research about the history of Indigenous peoples in the state of Guanajuato.
