Adjunct Professor Heather Crosby had quite an interesting summer teaching aboard a U.S. Navy ship. Crosby says, “I taught for 8 weeks on the USS San Jacinto CG-56 that is currently deployed to the middle east. We left June 1st from Norfolk and I left the ship Aug 4th in Bahrain. I taught American History 201 to sailors on the ship. I was able to travel through the Straits of Gibraltar, port visit in Naples with excursions to Rome, Pompeii and Vesuvius, went through the Suez Canal and saw Egypt, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Straits of Hormuz, Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf.” Check out this fascinating article on Heather’s experience: The Deployed Professor
