The History Department welcomed 25 students into Phi Alpha Theta, College of Charleston’s National History Honor Society the Omega Phi Chapter with a ceremony that marked their official initiation into the society as lifetime members on January 23, 2012 in Alumni Memorial Hall.
The KeyNote Address, ” The Seven Liberal Arts and the Transfer of Wisdom” was delivered by Dean John Newell. Professor Bernard Powers and Alex Kirby, current President of Phi Alpha Theta, presented students with certificates of membership. Provost George W. Hynd attended and had comments on the importance of the liberals arts and the study of history.
