Our Master of Business Administration students have been making the news this week for their dedication to the support and betterment of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. All of this work is being done while balancing a full-time school schedule that transitioned from all in-person courses to online learning. Here are their stories:
Lexi Gravino
Lexi Gravino, along with her mother Amy and her grandfather Paul Walter, has helped build a Little Free Library in their neighborhood of Coatbridge in Mount Pleasant. Little Free Libraries are part of a world-spanning book-share movement, with more than 100,00 placed around the globe. Lexi worked with her mother and grandfather to get approval, design, and get the community involved in stocking it. Marcus Chesnutt
Marcus Chesnutt, another MBA student, has been working with the School of Business and MUSC to raise money for the needs of healthcare workers during the pandemic. He launched a GoFundMe campaign, with the help of his MBA cohort, to raise money for the Low Country Health Care System, a nonprofit organization that provides funding for South Carolina’s most in-need medical facilities. Hunter Morris
Hunter Morris, another MBA student, worked with his cohort to launch an additional fundraiser benefitting the Lowcountry Food Bank to tackle food insecurity in our community. The food bank has received a 300% increase in need since the start of the pandemic, and Hunter hopes the money raised will help the food bank meet this need.
