I received the following from the treasurer for the Master of Environmental Studies Student Association about this year’s 8K for H2O. Congratulations, y’all!
The Master of Environmental Studies Student Association (MESSA) held the 8th Annual MESSA 8K for H2O Road Race and 5K Family Fun Walk in February. The goal of MESSA is to “promote environmental awareness on the College of Charleston campus and local community.” Our race calls attention to an issue presently facing our local community – promotion of better water quality.
Each year, we donate all funds raised through the MESSA 8K for H2O to a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality and sustainability of our local waters. This year’s recipient is LEEP, the Lowcountry Environmental Education Program.
The MESSA 8K for H2O raised $5,720 this year through race entries, donations, and a silent auction.
We are surrounded by water and use water daily. Protecting the quality of our waters is essential to sustain and build our community. We are thrilled to be able to contribute to making a difference in the Charleston community by raising money through MESSA 8K for H2O for LEEP.
Feel free to contact the MESSA Treasurer (Anne) at 972.74202063 or the Race Director (Stefanie) at 803.979.0878 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Anne Cubeta
MESSA Treasurer
