The Graduate Student Association (GSA) kicked off the semester in style with an unforgettable Welcome Back Event at the South Carolina Aquarium! Held on January 15, 2025, this special evening brought together over 100 graduate students and guests for a night of reconnecting, networking, and pure fun.
Free admission gave attendees full access to the stunning aquarium exhibits, setting the perfect backdrop for a lively evening. Guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts catered by Rosemary & Rye, adding a local culinary touch to the festivities. One of the night’s highlights? The exclusive pet-a-stingray experience, available from 7–9 p.m., where students got up close and personal with these incredible sea creatures!
The fun actually started earlier in the evening with an informal happy hour at Bay Street Biergarten from 4–6 p.m., where students grabbed drinks, mingled with their cohorts, and met new faces from across the Graduate School.
Events like these are what make graduate life at the College of Charleston so special—building community, fostering connections, and giving students a well-earned break from their studies. A huge thank you to the GSA for organizing such a fantastic event!
