On December 14, 2024, the College of Charleston gathered in T.D. Arena to celebrate a momentous occasion: Winter Commencement. Among the highlights of the ceremony was a heartfelt and inspiring address delivered by Alex Worrall, the Graduate Student Association President, to the graduating Class of 2024.

In a speech that resonated deeply with the crowd of faculty, family, friends, and graduates, Alex Worrall captured the essence of what it means to reach the pinnacle of academic achievement. Reflecting on the graduates’ journeys, Worrall acknowledged the countless hours of hard work, the sleepless nights spent editing essays and studying for exams, and the resilience shown in the face of challenges. “Today is the culmination of years of hard work, education, dedication, and passion for your field,” Worrall remarked, setting the tone for a celebration of perseverance and success.
Beyond the challenges, Worrall’s speech highlighted the transformative experiences that define a College of Charleston education. From the friendships formed to the curiosity fostered, graduates were reminded of the indelible mark their time at the College has left on their lives. “Regardless of whether you are graduating with an MBA, MFA, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or something completely different, we all leave with the community we have built and the friendships we have made,” Worrall shared.
