There are many ways to spend a Thursday evening in Charleston. Below, I offer two suggestions. I highly encourage you to attend. The times of the two events do not overlap, so you could even consider attending both.
1) “The Women of Lockerbie” by Deborah Brevoort – presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance at the College of Charelston.
Loosely inspired by the Pan Am 103 tragedy in December 1988. In this production, 270 lives are lost in a terrorist plane attack in Lockerbie, Scotland. One mother continually searches for her son’s remains. The women of Lockerbie try to turn an act of hatred into an act of love.
Directed by faculty member Brent Laing, the production opened Wednesday, January 16 and will continue to run through Sunday, January 27. The show starts at 7:30pm, except on Sundays (3pm), at The Chapel Theatre (172 Calhoun Street). Visit the box office in the Simons Center to purchase tickets. Admission is $15 for general admission and $10 for College of Charleston students, faculty/staff and senior citizens. For more information, visit the Department of Theatre’s website.
2) The Seventh Annual Graduate Research Poster Session – presented by the Graduate School of the College of Charleston.
Mentioned on Tuesday, the Graduate School invites you to join them in recognizing students and their research efforts at this year’s Graduate Student Research Poster Session. The poster session provides an introduction to the impressive research activities currently taking place in our graduate programs. Come, enjoy refreshments and perouse research posters!
The Poster Session will take place from 4:00-6:00pm today in the Stern Center Ballroom (4th floor). For more information, please see our website.
Both of these events can be found on the College of Charleston’s calendar of events.
