If so, you are not alone. It is right before spring break, and you are more than ready for some relaxation. Whether you are bogged down with studying for midterms, writing papers, trying to work on your thesis, or trying to figure out what do with your life after graduation, you are not alone! While it is easy to get caught up in the stress of being a student, it is important to take a step back and make sure you stay healthy. Here are a few tips to get you through the next week or so:
1. Prepare. This requires mental and physical preparation. Relinquish your love of procrastinating and get a head start on things. It will make your life easier in the long run.
2. Take Breaks. Concentrating on one thing for too long can become a disadvantage. Your mind and body need breaks. So whatever your method of “notworking” is, make sure to indulge in it for at least a small period of time during your studies.
3. Eat a Balanced Diet. We all know that Ramen noodles are one of the cheapest food items you can buy. However, they are in no way healthy! You are in school to do your best work and to become a master of a particular field of study, so make sure you have the energy to do so. Eating well-balanced meals can give you the strength to get through the long days of studying and work ahead.
4. Sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep is vital. You cannot concentrate or do your best work when you are tired. So try to clear your mind before going to bed so you don’t have a thousands thoughts racing around and preventing you from sleeping.
5. Stay Motivated. It is understandable to become discouraged from time to time. Stress has a tendency to make you feel overwhelmed and to sometimes even make you want to give up. But you are here for a purpose- to get your masters degree! And you can do it. Do not let anything come between you and your drive to succeed.
6. Spring Break! After midterms are all said and done, give yourself a treat over Spring Break and do something fun!! Relax for a few days and let your brain recoup and prepare for the second half of the semester.
