The College of Charleston’s School of Education, Health, and Human Performance and the Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation are hosting the 3rd Annual Jeremy’s Scholarship Gala on Thursday, March 18 at The Landing on Shem Creek. The event will go from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and tickets are $75 per person.
The proceeds from this event benefit the Jeremy Warren Vann Memorial Scholarship for aspiring teachers at the College of Charleston. The scholarship was created by Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis in memory of their son, Jeremy Warren Vann, a graduate of the College of Charleston. Jeremy aspired to become an elementary school teacher, but lost his life in an automobile accident and was unable to fulfill his dream. Chuck and Sara hope, through this scholarship, to assist other students to fulfill their dreams of becoming teachers.
There will be fabulous live and silent auction. Some of the highlights include a five night stay in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, a four passenger golf car from Club Car, a stay at the Sanctuary with golf for 4, golf for four at Reynolds Plantation, party for 25 with hors d’oeuvres by Granville’s Catering and bar services by Snyder Event Rentals and Staffing, amber and diamond earrings from Buckar, diamond necklace from Wager’s.
The 2009-2010 recipient of the Jeremy Warren Vann Memorial Scholarship, Kacy Huck, reflected on her award, “I am honored to receive this scholarship award on behalf of Jeremy and his commitment to teaching. I look forward to teaching middle school students and preparing them for a bright future. This scholarship will assist me in completing my clinical practice semester and ultimately my education degree.”
