Did you know that we’re approaching the sesquicentennial of the start of the U.S. Civil War? That makes the topic surprisingly timely, and the scholarly conversation on Civil War history is rapidly increasing. As a matter of fact, our own Center for the Lowcountry and the Atlantic World is hosting a conference on race and labor after slavery this weekend.
