One Course Initiative
Test Drive a Master’s Degree Through the College of Charleston
The Graduate School of the College of Charleston, along with the Lowcountry Graduate Center, is offering the One Course Initiative (OCI), a wallet-friendly opportunity to try a graduate class. Through OCI, the $45 application fee is waived and four free GRE preparation sessions are offered. Participants can take one of 41 classes in communication, English, environmental studies, languages, marine biology, mathematics, performing arts, public administration and science & math for teachers.
OCI is designed for the working professional considering graduate school, but not ready to commit to a master’s degree. It is an opportunity to apply as a non-degree student (for free) and learn how to balance work, family and school obligations, while earning graduate credit and determining if a master’s degree is the right option. Also, because many working professionals have been out of the classroom, GRE test preparation may be needed and through OCI, up to 12 hours are free. The College of Charleston’s Center for Student Learning will provide pre and post tests in addition to the preparation.
The program is limited to the first 50 students on a first-come, first-served basis. To find out how you can become an OCI participant, visit the website at http://cofc.edu/oci/
