Immigration Nation: How We Got Here, Part I
Immigration in Literature
Open any daily newspaper and you’ll read about immigration. But the written word on this divisive topic spans the centuries – and varies in its interpretation. Join College of Charleston professors Mike Duvall and Adam Mendelsohn, along with Andreas Lixl, Professor of German at UNC-Greensboro and editor of Memories of Carolinian Immigrants, for a discussion of immigration as seen through literature. The panelists will discuss some of the salient issues that emerge in the literary representation of immigrant experience, and how they relate to contemporary issues on the topic.
