Just Out: New Issue of postmedieval

The second 2011 issue of postmedieval: a journal of medieval cultural studies, co-edited by Prof. Myra Seaman, has been published. The topic of this issue is “The Medievalism of Nostalgia,” and it includes 6 articles on modern (18th-21st century) nostalgia for the medieval by Australian and American scholars (including, for instance, Louise D’Arcens’ essay on comic medievalist tourist attractions and sensory evocations of the past). The issue also includes a response essay, “Nostalgia and its Discontents,” by Renée Trilling and a book review essay, covering books on medieval film and on contemporary medievalist re-enactors, by Carolyn Dinshaw. For more detailed information on this issue (and previous issues), see the postmedieval page at Palgrave journals. Addlestone Library subscribes to postmedieval, so you can access contents from this or past issues electronically through the library’s website.
