Filmmaker Gillian Laub to screen her film “Southern Rites” with Q&A, 11/15 @ 7:30
The 2015 documentary Southern Rites will be screened at the recital hall in Simons Center this Thursday (November 15) at 7:30pm. Filmmaker Gillian Laub will be introducing her documentary and doing a Q&A afterwards. Laub is also known for the documentary short Camouflaged Identity (2015). Laub is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker based in New York City, and her documentary Southern Rites deals with the town of Montgomery County, Georgia, a years after it merged its historically segregated proms. Among its unintended repercussions is a white resident’s murder of a young black man.
The screening and Q&A that follows is free and open to the public.
