Want to tell stories in a 3-D virtual world? Dr. William Bares will help you!

This summer, Dr. William Bares from the Computing in the Arts department, will be leading undergraduate student researchers to develop interactive stories set in virtual 3D worlds. The research will explore different forms of interfaces for interacting with stories that take place in virtual 3D worlds, including popular Virtual Reality headsets.

No technical coding skills will be required. Stories may be traditional linear narrative, or they may involve multiple interactive branches that lead to different conclusions.  Given the time available in the summer, Dr. Bares anticipate that a complete animated story would play out over ten to thirty minutes.

The seminar will run from approximately from May 10 through July 10.

On Monday April 4th at 3:35 pm, Dr. Bares will be giving a presentation about this research for anyone interested in room 217 of Harbor Walk West (to left of the SC Aquarium) down Calhoun St.
